167: Rarely Familiar
Introducing a new podcast about parenting children with disabilities and rare medical complexities
It’s Thanksgiving week and I’m really grateful my wife launched a podcast.
If you’re curious about parenting children with disabilities and rare medical complexities, check out Rarely Familiar (Apple, Spotify, YouTube). Haley (my wife), and co-hosts Trum and Jen take turns leading creative, pragmatic explorations into topics including disabled advocacy, palliative care, traveling internationally with wheelchairs, sourcing wheel chair vans, dating-while-parenting a disabled kid, managing disability paperwork, able-bodied siblings of disabled kids, and being a father to a kid with medical complexity, among many others.
They found a compelling gap in the marketplace. They identified an audience that wasn’t being served. And they jumped into brand building (thanks for the logo, Todd; and the website help, Emily), episode planning, writing, recording and editing, and wiring up all the things you wire up in this day and age to get the word out.
I appreciate how these three savvy mamas found a way to create and build partnership and community, and tell stories that make a difference.
If you know someone who might value the world Haley, Trum and Jen have built, please share.
